Njagi was reportedly stabbed in the chest during a domestic altercation between the young couple.

The People Daily reported that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officer, Corporal Charles Ombogo, informed Makadara Principal Magistrate Mary Njagi about the case details.

Ombogo claimed that Sospeter Gaitho reported the terrible murder to the Kasarani Police Station.

After informing the authorities about a stabbing event at the residence, Gaitho promptly had Wanjiku detained.

Ombogo stated that Wanjiku would undergo a psychiatric evaluation at Mathari Mental Hospital before facing trial.

How did court rule on Wanjiku's freedom?

An autopsy is set to be conducted on the deceased to confirm the exact cause of Mwaniki's death.

Additionally, blood samples collected from the crime scene will be analysed by the government chemist for DNA testing.

The court acknowledged the severity of the offence and granted the police’s request for a 14-day detention of the suspect.

Magistrate Mary Njagi ruled in favour of the detention, noting Wanjiku would remain at Kasarani Police Station until September 10, when the court would reconvene.

"This court has admitted the application by the officer considering the magnitude of the offence, noting that a life was lost. I hereby admit the plea of detention for 14 days," the magistrate ruled.

Woman hires hitmen to kill cheating husband

In another story, a woman was arrested for hiring hitmen to kill her husband following consistent domestic feuds.

The plot to kill the man was reached after the couple lost their baby and an unborn child, causing the deceased to unveil plans to marry a second wife, according to the police.

The woman confessed, stating that she gave out KSh 105,000 to the three hitmen after her dead husband consistently ridiculed her for not being an expert in sexual affairs.
