Nairobi - A man is mourning his loving mother, who sadly passed away after a battle with illnesses.

Paul Kanyiri, popular as MC Wamutingoe, lost his mum, Mary Waithira, who raised him and his siblings singlehandedly.

The entertainer noted that Waithira remained a single mother and raised him and his siblings after she separated from her husband.

The couple ended things over four decades ago when Kanyiri and his siblings were very young.

"Since then, my mother has been our sole provider. She was hardworking, resilient, and prayerful. She ensured my siblings and I went to school despite having financial challenges and also had food to eat," he painfully told TUKO.co.ke.

The gospel artiste said Waithira got sick and was diagnosed with diabetes and high blood pressure.

She had been on and off the hospital seeking treatment for the medical conditions that weighed her down.

"It took a toll on the family, but we tried to seek the best treatment for her," Kanyiri noted.

Unfortunately, Waithira passed on, leaving Kanyiri and her children with one last piece of advice: to love one another.

She gave the advice three days before her demise, as Kanyiri vividly recalled.

"My mother was a strong woman with a lot of faith. She taught us not to be beggars despite our lack of money. There were many days we slept hungry, but she wanted to instil faith in us. Whenever we lacked, she never looked worried as she tried for a better day the following day.
She used to farm, and whatever money she got, she used it to feed for us. She was not fond of asking or airing our struggles to others. She was a strong woman, and I will remember her forever," he added.

The singer shared emotional photos, including one at her mother's grave and another with her late mother.

Owiyo expressed deep sorrow and everlasting love for her mother, describing her as her greatest gift.
