How Passy Ma Trevor scammed investors KSh 350m

According to the detectives, Pascaline employed an elaborate scheme to convince the unsuspecting investors to entrust her with their monies.

Among her tricks was the promise to the victims that they would reap 30% interest worth of returns on their investment.

Convinced of the sweet deal, the victims went ahead to deposit the monies in various accounts held in the suspect's credentials.

"In a well-orchestrated scheme that involved convincing victims to deposit large sums of money into four different bank accounts across Equity Bank, Coop Bank, Stanbic Bank and Kingdom Bank, with a promise of up to 30% monthly interest, Passy Ma Trevor also falsely claimed she was running a successful real estate company that she used as a bait, but once payments were made, she switched off her mobile phone and went into hiding," the DCI narrated.

Pascaline allegedly defrauded 200 people, with the detectives confirming being in receipt of 106 complaints formally lodged.

She switched off her phone and retreated to her hideout in Kantafu, Machakos county, where she was holed up for weeks before the detectives caught up with her on Thursday, September 12.

How Passy Ma Trevor won investors' trust

The woman recruited her close friends and associates into the scheme.

She gave an appealing aura of a well-to-do businesswoman through her lavish style broadcast on social media.

Until the scandal, Pascaline was putting up a futuristic mansion in Machakos.

All was well with the investors, who were dreaming of impressive returns until she broke their hearts with a WhatsApp group update.

She informed them that the business was crumbling and logged out, not to be reached again.
