As the third week of September started, Kenyans were elated to learn that a well-wisher had offered to pay school fees for the girl who appeared frustrated at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC).

During the week, other families had to accept that they had lost their loved ones, while others whose kin had gone missing kept hope alive.

1. Philanthropist offers to pay fees for student

A young woman's hopes for joining the KMTC Webuye campus nearly faded away when her father was unable to raise the required funds.

The duo was pictured sitting outside the college gate, lost in thought about the way forward, with the father tightly clutching the admission documents in his hands.

Their story is set to change for the better after philanthropist Dickson Dikitaro Tanui offered to pay one term's fees.

2. Mzawenyi Secondary School students weep for principal

Students of Mzwanenyi Secondary School in Taita Taveta were devastated upon learning about the death of their beloved principal, David Mombo.

Pictures showed the emotional moments when students learned of his passing, with many consoling each other and weeping in pain.

Pastors, led by Bishop Liverson Mng'onda, visited the school to offer emotional and spiritual support to students during this difficult time.

3. 23-year-old college student goes missing

The family of Linah Wanjiru Mungai is seeking help to locate the 23-year-old Information Technology (IT) student.

Wanjiru, a student at RTI College in South B, left the hostels on Wednesday, September 11 and disappeared.

She never made it to class, and efforts to reach her were futile as her phones remained switched off. Wanjiru's brother, Kingangi Mungai, told TUKO.co.ke that his sister's silence raised alarm among her friends and family.

4. Grief as woman's body is found septic tank

When Esther Mulelenge disappeared two years ago, her husband, Ronald Kirya, claimed that she had left him and married another man.

That claim seemed to hold water until the body of a woman believed to be Esther was discovered in a septic tank.

Kirya risks facing murder charges if DNA results verify that the remains are indeed those of the missing woman.

5. Mum seeks answers as son goes missing

Joel Johanes, a student at Bagara Secondary School, left the institution in a group of 102 other students and teachers for a school trip, but sadly, he never returned.

According to the school, when the students started scaling the Kwaara Hill, they were divided and started climbing, only for some of them to get lost.

Joel's parents are now demanding answers for the loss of their dear boy, who was a firstborn and the only son as well.

6. Mum of boy who died in septic tank speaks

Jecinta Ndiege, the mother of John-Mark Ombok, who died on Sunday, September 15, after falling in a septic tank, painfully talked about his last moments on earth.

The grieving mother blamed the Friends School Kamusinga administration for negligence in leaving the septic tank open without a cover.

The Siaya woman said her son slipped and fell into the tank while running away from a teacher who was chasing him and his schoolmates with a stick.

Kenyan woman in US military dies

Meanwhile, a beloved woman who worked in the US military, Mary Kimani, died at her home while sleeping.

According to the Kenyan Women In The US-Uncensored -KWITUU, the young woman's memorial service will be held on September 23.

The venue of the memorial will be inside a funeral home: Little & Davenport 355 Dawsonville Hwy, Gainesville, GA 30501, while her burial will be at the military's Georgia National Cemetary.
