Thousands of WhatsApp users have been locked out of the platform.
On Tuesday, September 10, WhatsApp users in Kenya were unable to use the platform.
Those who tried to log into the messaging application were met with the message: "Your account can no longer use WhatsApp."

Some were logged out while using the Mark Zuckerberg-owned platform.
"I was in a conversation, and suddenly, my WhatsApp just got banned without prior notice," said one user.
The majority of the users were disappointed with the decision to log them out without notice.
@FCB_Wiche asked:
"Am I the only one who experienced WhatsApp ban?"
@AdedejiMercyGb1 asked:
"Why did WhatsApp ban my account?"
@_oyindamolaaaa wondered:
"I did not even violate any term of service or something."
@AOffuh asked for a review:
"I am writing to request a review of my banned WhatsApp account..."
@theReal_SeyE noted:
"Just clocked that more people have had similar experiences in the last 24-48 hours. It’s madness."
The WhatsApp ban affected users in Kenya and across the world.
According to the WhatsApp Help Centre, a user can be banned if the account activity violates the WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy or Meta Commerce Policy.
The violation involves spam, trying to sell items prohibited by WhatsApp policies, and/or if it puts WhatsApp users’ safety at risk.
WhatsApp recommends that users who feel their account was banned by mistake request a review.
When your account is blocked, tap request a review on the app.
Add details to support your case if you'd like, then tap submit.
WhatsApp will send you a notification in the WhatsApp Business app once your account has been reviewed.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp introduced edit and delete features that offer users a way to avoid the embarrassment of sending the wrong message.
Mistakenly selecting “Delete for Me” instead of “Delete for Everyone” could leave an unwanted message visible to others.
The edit function has been a lifesaver, helping users correct embarrassing typos caused by autocorrect or speech prediction features.
