In a classic case of unexpected humour, Safaricom delivered a witty response to a man who sought assistance getting a KSh 1 million loan.

The amusing exchange showed Safaricom's playful side when it comes to light interactions with its customers.

It all began after the telco sent out a Christmas message to Kenyans, saying it was a season of giving and receiving.

"Merry Christmas, Fam! It's the season for family and love. A season of giving and receiving gifts, as well as thoughts that count . Who are you excited to visit this holiday?" Safaricom posed.

How Safaricom responded to Kenyan asking for loan

Responding to Safaricom's message, a Kenyan identified as Kijana Ya Atwoli asked if the telco could give him a loan of KSh 1 million to be paid in instalments.

"Mnaweza nipea loan ya 1M nitalipa mdogo mdogo?" the Kenyan posed.

In their response, Safaricom cheekily asked the man to tell his father to give him the loan

"Ambia mzae akusort ." Safaricom hilariously responded.

Safaricom responds to Kenyan's fear over M-Pesa texts

Earlier, Safaricom, through its official Facebook page, responded to Kenyans' worry following M-Pesa messages with the prefix 'RIP'.

On Monday, September 25, concerned Kenyans wondered why M-Pesa messages started with RIP, also the popular acronym many use at funerals.

The renowned journalist Lindah Oguttu was among those who asked the telecommunications company to rectify the messaging issue.

"Oya SafaricomPLC, Mpesa codes cannot begin wit RIP please....rukeni hiyo buana," said journalist Lindah Oguttu.
