"The man who got me pregnant said he was willing to take me in, and we stayed together. We gave birth to six children, and as I was pregnant with the seventh child, he died abruptly in his sleep.
My father-in-law then sent me away from home, claiming that he did not approve of the relationship from the beginning," she told NTV Uganda.

Leaving children with father-in-law

It was difficult for her as she explained that when her husband passed away, she learnt she was pregnant with her seventh child.

The Ugandan lady thought perhaps her delicate situation would earn her favour with her father-in-law, but it was not the case.

"My father-in-law not only sent me away but also insisted I leave the children behind.," she added.

Pronounced dead at age seven

Nyakato shared about her early life, saying she got sick and was disabled at age seven when she was also allegedly announced dead.

"My parents told me that I first got sick and was announced dead to the extent that they dug my grave, but my father insisted that I was not dead," she said, adding she was admitted for two years.

Kakamega woman refuses widow's inheritance

Closer home, in-laws chased a Kakamega woman away after refusing to be inherited.

Rebecca Moi sought government intervention after being allegedly chased away from her home by her in-laws for refusing a widow's inheritance.

Moi's life took a tragic turn in 2018 when her husband, Daniel Moi Samuel, lost his life in a road accident, as reported by The Standard.

Following his burial, Moi's father-in-law reportedly insisted that she undergo widow inheritance by marrying her brother-in-law.
