Ugandans hoping to hear National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, aka Bobi Wine, were treated on Monday, August 28, to hot air as a radio he appeared on went off the air.
A boda boda rider told Uganda's outlet Daily Monitor he was disappointed.
"I wanted to listen to Bobi on radio but when I tuned in, there was no sound coming through," the boda boda rider, Moses Katusiime, said.

Katusiime said whoever switched off the radio signal denied them an opportunity to listen to different views.
"For us, what we want is to allow someone to tell us his views, then it is upon us to make a decision. But when we are denied a chance to listen to them, we make wrong choices," he said.
While the radio looked to be on, Bonny Maridadi, the station manager, confirmed that the signal was off-air.
"I just got similar reports that the radio was off, but at the radio station, we were receiving the signals. Secondly, the online channel was on, but I got a number of calls from Kazo and elsewhere that the radio was off," he said.
According to Maridadi, an investigation is being conducted to determine what caused the blackout in some places.
Wine subsequently said at a demonstration that the ruling government tries to keep people in the dark.
Wine has had similar occurrences, with state agents preventing him from speaking on radio.
"Museveni never wanted us here because he does not want us to tell you the truth. When I was on radio, they switched it off... because they do not want you to listen to what I am saying but because of your power and the power of God we are here," he said.
In 2021, Wine prematurely ended his interview with a Kenyan radio station after the army raided his Kampala home.
Wine was being interviewed on Hot96 when he told his hosts that he had to go stating the military had just stormed his compound.
Soldiers allegedly besieged his compound and arrested everyone in their sight.
