Atoto had been involved in a devastating road accident on August 7, which left him critically injured and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Kenyatta National Hospital.

According to a Facebook post by Belinda Auma Aketch, who announced Atoto's death, his battle ended on Saturday, August 12, leaving fans heartbroken and mourning.

Her heartfelt tribute read,

"It's with deep sorrow that ajawa/ohangla family has lost one of its own through a road accident. As we start the day, kindly let's put his family, friends, and colleagues in prayers.

"Rest in peace my FB friend Brayo Atoto Wuod Alili. May your soul rest in eternal peace," she added.

News of Atoto's death spreads online

The Ohangla music community, known for its distinctive blend of traditional Luo rhythms and modern influences, is now grappling with losing one of its shining stars.

Ohangla singer dies in accident

In February 2022, the family and friends of Ohangla singer Ndogo Jaraha were thrown into mourning following his sudden death in a grisly road accident on the Nairobi-Kisumu highway.

In a post on Facebook, celebrated Ohangla music producer Wuod Fibi eulogised the fallen musician as a promising young artiste.

He disclosed that Ndogo was involved in a road accident on his way back to Kisumu after performing in Nairobi.

"We have lost Ndogo Jaraah a promising Ohangla artiste, through a road accident. He was on his way back to Kisumu after performing in Nairobi last night. Rest in peace," Wuod Fibi wrote.
