Nairobi - Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party has named its five representatives to the talks with President William Ruto's team.

In a statement, ODM leader Raila Odinga settled on Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to lead the 5-member opposition team.

Other team members include former Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, National Assembly Minority leader Opiyo Wandayi, Nyamira senator Okong'o Omogeni and Amina Munyasi, MP Malindi.

Raila lists five key issues to be discussed

At the same time, the opposition coalition stated that each party in the talks should be free to raise their issues of interest to be discussed by the dialogue committee.

"Our position remains that no party to these negotiations can claim a right to determine for the other what to raise and what not to raise. Azimio will respect Kenya Kwanza's right to bring all its issues to the table. We expect Kenya Kwanza to do the same with our issues," the statement read in part.

Azimio listed the high cost of living, audit of 2022 elections, inclusivity in national affairs, bipartisan reconstitution of IEBC and respect of political parties as the five key issues to be discussed by the dialogue team.

Moses Kuria welcomes Ruto-Raila talks

Meanwhile, Trade and Industrialisation Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria lauded the peace talks between Ruto and ODM leader.

In a statement, the outspoken CS said the new talks between the Kenya Kwanza Alliance and Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party were good for the economy.

"The resumption of bipartisan talks is good news for investments and the economy in general. Violence is not the way to resolve political differences," said Kuria.

While referring to Ruto and Raila as his bosses, Kuria said all Kenyans are behind the new talks even though he warned against any attempts to create a handshake government.

According to the former Gatundu South MP, the new round of talks provides an opportunity to pull together as a country.

''It's time to pull together as a nation with a strong government and even stringer opposition to keep us in check. To my bosses William Ruto and Raila Odinga, you are on the right side of history. All Kenyans are behind you for as long as we do not create another Mongrel like the Nusu Mkate confusion," he added.
