Siaya: 'Comrades' Gang Member Linked To Murder Of 19-Year-Old Man Outside Cyber Shop Arrested

Siaya - Police in Siaya county have arrested a suspect linked to a series of robbery incidents in the lakeside county.
Items recovered from Charles Odhiambo's house
In a statement, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations said Charles Otieno Odhiambo was arrested for being a key suspect in the shooting incident outside Sunrise Cyber cafe in Siaya on August 1, 2023.
During the incident, a 19-year-old man, identified as Felix Okoth Yugi, was killed after being shot by two unidentified assailants.

"Police have arrested the key suspect in the murder of a man shot in a robbery incident that occurred at a cyber shop in Siaya on August 1, 2023," DCI said.
DCI disclosed that investigations unearthed a criminal gang going by the name 'comrades', which has been involved in a spate of robberies in the region, of which Odhiambo is believed to be a member.
"A forensic trail generated from the processed murder scene placed the suspect - Charles Otieno Odhiambo - at the centre of a number of violent robberies, triggering his manhunt and subsequent arrest at Awelo estate in Siaya," DCI added.
During the arrest, the police recovered a getaway motorcycle, assorted mobile phones, and screwdrivers.
"Several recoveries were made in his house, including a getaway motorcycle registration numbers KMGE 652Q and KMFM 231D, assorted mobile phones and home appliances, National ID cards, two pangas, steel cutters, several spanners, a printer, a projector, screwdrivers among others," the statement read.
The suspect was booked at Yala police station pending arraignment, as the investigating team heightened the pursuit of his accomplices and recovery of the firearms illegally possessed by the gang.
2 murder suspects arrested in Vihiga
Elsewhere, DCI detectives arrested two suspects linked to the murder of a 76-year-old woman in Vihiga county.
DCI said Patrick Misiko, aged 36, and Christine Jerono, aged 46, were arrested in the Majengo area after a month-long search.
The two robbery with violence suspects are believed to have been part of a gang that robbed, gang-raped and then killed a 76-year-old woman a month ago in Serem area of Vihiga County.
DCI disclosed that a mobile phone of the make Oking OK 237 belonging to the deceased was recovered during the arrest.
"The suspects, Patrick Misiko,36 and Christine Jerono, 46 were arrested in the county's Majengo area, while in possession of the deceased's mobile phone make Oking OK 237 that formed part of the items robbed from her during the July 18 robbery," the statement read.
Detectives said the search for other accomplices in the case has been heightened even as the interrogation of the arrested suspects continues.
"As interrogation of the two suspects continue, search for their accomplices has been heightened with the local police maintaining a sharp lookout," DCI added.
