The mother of the girl accused of stealing innerwear in a market, has been given KSh 100,000 to start a business.

David Kiprono gives mum KSh 100k

A Facebook post shared by Lemiso Leboo showed Pkulel University, the Metacampus CSR Team from Kericho, Bomet, and Narok region, visiting the girl at their Kimout home, Kipsonoi ward in Sotik Constituency.

"The young girl was captured in a distressing video that trended at a market and was ridiculed by some women," said Lemiso.

"VC David Kiprono also offered a boost of Ksh 100,000 to her mum Janeth to start a business that will sustain her family," he added.

Where is Sosit Girls High School?

Under the patronage of VC David Kiprono, the team also ensured that Sharon joined Sosit Girls High School, a Boarding School in Kericho county. The teen previously attended Kipsonoi Secondary School as a day scholar.

VC David Kiprono offered to pay her school fees for two years, including shopping. A member of the PUMC Community will visit her during her academic days and offer any other necessary support.

The group also spent some time with the family and took a cup of tea together.

Kericho girl gets school sponsorship

In January 2024, a young girl who scored 403 marks in the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) got sponsorship to join high school.

Cherono from Kivuno village, Tendeno-Sorget Ward, Kericho county, studied at Katet Primary School.

She was poised to join Kipsigis Girls High School but lacked school fees to pay for secondary education.
