Former Laikipia North MP Mathew Lempurkel was attacked and assaulted by thugs at his main gate on Monday, May 20 night at his Rongai home in Kajiado county.
Lempurkel was attacked by three robbers on a motorbike shortly after alighting from a taxi that had dropped him off.
According to a report by Citizen Digital, the three armed robbers stormed away after his night guard came out to his aid.
"Just as I had alighted from the taxi, four people came close to my main gate and began beating me up. When the night guard came out, they immediately drove away," he said.

The thieves hit him on the head with a blunt object and made away with two phones, and an undisclosed amount of money. However, the matter has not yet been reported to the police.
"They struck me on the head with a blunt object, stole my two phones, and forcefully took away some cash before running away," Lempurkel said.
Lempurkel is currently hospitalized at Nairobi Women's Hospital in Rongai where he was treated and later discharged after sustaining minor injuries.
According to a survey report by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), crime rates in the country have increased to 19%, as compared with 2022. The current crime rate stand at 104, 842,019.
The situation has been attributed to high rates of unemployment in the country, as well as tough economic times.
The MP's attack came barely two days after a local media employee was roughed up by robbers, who made away with his phone at Church Road.
According to the residents, five similar attacks were reported to the police before the two latest incidents.
Jackline Mutembei, a resident of the area, claimed residents shun reporting the cases to the police as action is rarely taken.
" We already have five incidents at the police, none of them has been acted upon by the police, that is why many cases are not reported," she stated.
Additionally, the residents said insecurity has been high around Church Road, Kimani Road, Maasai Lodge, Acacia, and Merisho Road, among others.
In April, a police officer attached to an MP was robbed at gunpoint in Syokimau Machakos county in the daytime.
The three attackers made away with KSh 15,600, his gun, and his mobile phone.
Police initiated investigations, including checking the nearby CCTVs.
