In Nairobi, petrol will retail at KSh 192.84 and diesel at KSh 179.18. Kerosene would be sold for KSh 168.76.

EPRA cited the reduced landing costs for petrol (3.82%), diesel (0.46%), and kerosene (0.5%) as the reasons for the reduced prices.

"In the period under review, the maximum allowed petroleum pump price for Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene decrease by KShs.1.00 per litre, KShs.1.20 per litre and KShs.1.30 per litre respectively," EPRA said.

However, a majority of Kenyans have not taken the reduction of the fuel prices positively.

Many said the KSh 1 reduction per litre of petrol was a mockery to those already suffering from the high cost of living.

What President Willlliam Ruto promised Kenyans

Earlier, President William Ruto promised Kenyans a further ease in inflation as food and fuel prices continue to stabilise.

Ruto spoke after the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) reduced prices of super petrol, diesel, and kerosene by KSh 5.31, KSh 10 and KSh 18.68 per litre, respectively.

Speaking in Nyeri on Sunday, April 14, Ruto attributed the strength of the shilling and drop in fuel and unga prices to the tough fiscal measures his government took in the past year.
