Nakuru - A section of Rift Valley leaders have held a fundraising event to support the grandson of the late president, Daniel Arap Moi.
The fundraising was held on Tuesday, April 23 and was presided over by Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi.

The event was meant to raise cash to aid the medical treatment of Kalya Gift Moi, who is expected to undergo specialised treatment in India.
"Presiding over fundraiser to aid medical treatment of Kalya Gift Moi. Gift is a 14-year-old grandson to the late former president Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi. He is battling cancer and is set to undergo treatment in India. May God's healing be his portion," Sudi said.
The leaders, including Cabinet Secretary Simon Chelugui, raised KSh 6.15 million during the five-minute session.
Sudi donated KSh 1 million during the fund drive, and CS Kipchumba Murkomen and Governor Johnson Sakaja gave KSh 500,000 each.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi sent his contributions of KSh 300,000, while CS Chelugui contributed KSh 400,000.
Gift Moi, son of the late Jonathan 'JT' Toroitich, requires urgent treatment in India for a rare cancer of the jaw.
Gift's mother, Faith Moi, had made a public appeal earlier, pleading with well-wishers for financial contributions.
Meanwhile, Moi’s grandson Collins Toroitich Kibet told a Nakuru court that he cannot pay the KSh 1 million monthly child support demanded by his supposedly estranged wife Gladys Jeruto Tagi.
Kibet said he is jobless, broke, and can only manage to raise his two children's National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) medical cover.
Further details captured in an affidavit tabled before Nakuru Principal Magistrate Benjamin Limo indicate that Kibet also suggested that the kids be moved to JK Primary School in Eldama Ravine, Baringo County.
