The father of two came short of winning the life-changing amount that would have made him the biggest jackpot winner the country has ever seen.
"He correctly predicted 16 out of 17 games in one of the different bet selections he had placed, picking KSh 6.3 million from that specific slip," read the statement.
Nyakuni took advantage of SportPesa, which gives gamers a chance to play other jackpots within the Mega Jackpot to place double combinations.
The move helped him win bonuses in the 15, 14, 13 and 12 Mega Jackpots, where he had also placed bets.
According to the company, the 15 jackpot earned him KSh 1.7 million, the 14 won him KSh 1.6 million, while the 13 added him KSh 1 million.
With the 12 netting him KSh 442,000, the figure accumulated to the overall KSh 11 million.
"I have been placing combinations for a long time now and I like it because it gives me some sort of safety net to my bets," explained Nyakuni.
An elated Nyakuni smiled during his unveiling in Nairobi's Central Business District, immersing himself in song and dance to celebrate his win.
He was unveiled alongside two other winners, becoming the latest millionaire to be minted from the betting company.
The other two are Johnstone Keya, who won KSh 6.3 million and Martin Ndirangu, who took home KSh 1.2 million.
He indicated that the money would be used to expand his business and undertake some developments at home.
