“He told me he was alive. He was involved in a helicopter crash, but he was alive. He told me he was in a hospital bed. When I chilled a bit, the president announced that my son, John Kinyua Mureithi was also dead. When I heard that, my stomach pained me. I knew that everything was lost. He worked hard, knowing that he was guarding the government. He loved coming to see us a lot.”
Mureithi’s brother, Raphael Kamuku, revealed that his brother was like a father to him.
“He was like a dad. Because as dad has told you, he got work the first and I am the way I am because of him. He took me through school and I studied high school, university he was the breadwinner of this family.”
Another story revealed the names and images of the gallant soldiers who died alongside CDF Ogolla.
Ogolla was accompanied by Brig Swale Saidi, Col Duncan Keittany, Lt Col David Sawe, Maj George and Benson Magondu.
Others who lost their lives in the ill-fated chopper include Capt Sora Mohamed, Capt Hillary Litali, Sgt Cliphonce Omondi, and Sgt Rose Nyawira.
