The family of the late Senior Sergeant John Kinyua Mureithi has opened up about their loss.

Did John Muriithi contact his dad?

In an interview with NTV, the heartbroken family talked of their loss as the dad recalled how close he was to his son.

Josphat revealed that he talked to his son after the crash, and he admitted that he was alive after the crash.

“He told me he was alive. He was involved in a helicopter crash, but he was alive. He told me he was in a hospital bed. When I chilled a bit, the president announced that my son, John Kinyua Mureithi was also dead. When I heard that, my stomach pained me. I knew that everything was lost. He worked hard, knowing that he was guarding the government. He loved coming to see us a lot.”

Mureithi’s brother, Raphael Kamuku, revealed that his brother was like a father to him.

“He was like a dad. Because as dad has told you, he got work the first and I am the way I am because of him. He took me through school and I studied high school, university he was the breadwinner of this family.”

Who died alongside Francis Ogolla?

Another story revealed the names and images of the gallant soldiers who died alongside CDF Ogolla.

Ogolla was accompanied by Brig Swale Saidi, Col Duncan Keittany, Lt Col David Sawe, Maj George and Benson Magondu.

Others who lost their lives in the ill-fated chopper include Capt Sora Mohamed, Capt Hillary Litali, Sgt Cliphonce Omondi, and Sgt Rose Nyawira.
