Nairobi - Several people are feared dead after being trapped after a landslide occurred in Kiambu County on Tuesday, May 14.
The Kenya Red Cross issued a statement stating that the landslide occurred in the Kimende Escarpments of Kiambu.

"A landslide has occurred in the Kimende Escarpments of Kiambu County. Several people are believed to be trapped. The Red Cross Action Team is en route to the scene," Kenya Red Cross said.
Speaking exclusively to TUKO.coke, a local said the landslide occurred at Matathia.
He said the landslide occurred a few minutes past 9.00pm, and some people, including passersby, have died.
"We are so shocked because a terrible accident has happened here in kimende on your way to Matathia in Escarpments. A terrible landslide happened just minutes ago; we fear some people have died, some passersby," he said.
He said people have been asked to leave the scene as another landslide could be imminent.
"We don't know they were how many..Unfortunately, there's nothing we can do currently and people are being asked to go away from the scene of the accident as the mudslide was huge and we fear another could be on the way...so people should go away from the place where this has happened as we wait for tractors and rescue team," he added.
Elsewhere, grief and despair descended upon a village in Narok county following the tragic loss of four family members.
A couple and their two children were swept away by a landslide, engulfed in the devastation caused by heavy rainfall on the night of Monday, April 8.
Ololulunga police officers reported that the house of the four individuals was swept away while they were sleeping.
As reported by Ramogi FM, the heart-wrenching incident occurred in Torokiat village, Ololulunga, situated in the Narok South sub-county.
