The incident comes barely a day after the Kenya Meteorological Department warned of continued heavy rains accompanied by strong winds in some parts of the country.

What is weatherman's marine advisory

In a marine forecast shared by the weatherman on Tuesday, May 21, the Kenyan Coast will likely experience south-easterly winds, at 10-30 knots.

"As a result of tropical storm IALY, expect south-easterly winds at 10-30 knots over Kenya waters. Wave heights will range from 1.5-3.6m, and moderate to strong sea conditions. Small boats and crafts should avoid deep-sea areas," the weatherman advised.
