Kenya registered a dismal performance at the recently concluded World Athletics Relays held in the Bahamas.
Anchored by Africa’s fastest man, Ferdinand Omanyala, the Kenyan relay team hoped to secure a ticket to the Paris Olympics 2024, but it was never to be.
This is after it finished last in the first qualifying round with a time of timing 39.38.

The team also had a bad second round, finishing fourth. The top two teams in every heat secured Olympic qualification.
It was a performance that not even Omanyala expected.
“I haven’t seen it well because there was so much happening in the middle of the race, but our position was not good.
We prepared well. We were expecting a faster time but I do not know what happened,” Omanyala told CITIUS MAG
The Kenyan team was also made up of Hesbon Ochieng', Mark Otieno and Meshack Babu.
Japan, who won the first heat and China, who finished second, qualified for the Olympic Games.
The Kenyan 4x100 relay team will now have to wait the next four years to try their luck again.
“Just keep working hard. Our day will come,” the Africa’s fastest man said.
Ahead of the World Athletics Relay, Omanyala was optimistic about securing another slot at the Olympics.
He is already assured of representing Kenya in the 100m race.
“Same person, big goals, big year, big dreams but a different approach,” Omanyala said before the World Athletics Relays.
During the relays, Akana Simbine helped his South African team to secure an Olympics slot after finishing first in heat three of the second qualifying round.
Other African relay teams that secured Olympic slots include Ghana and Nigeria.
TUKO.co.ke previously reported that Africa's fastest man revealed he earned KSh 1 million shillings per race as he talked about the KSh 2 million the government gifted him after Faith Kipyegon's win.
He made the revelations as he appreciated his wife, Laventa Amutavi, for the financial sacrifices she made as they began their journey of love.
