Tabitha Akinyi, the wife of Sergeant Cliphonce Omondi, has shared a screenshot of their last call before he died in the chopper crash.

How many people died in chopper crash?

On April 18, President William Ruto confirmed that the ill-fated chopper had 11 occupants on board when it crashed in Kaben, the border of Elgeyo Marakwet and West Pokot counties. Nine people died, while two survived.

The officials who died alongside Omondi were Chief of Defence Forces Francis Ogolla, Brigadier Swale Saidi, Colonel Duncan Keittany, Lieutenant Colonel David Sawe, Major George Benson Magondu, Captain Sora Mohamed, Captain Hillary Litali, Senior Sergeant John Kinyua Mureithi, and Sergeant Rose Nyawira.

The ill-fated Kenya Air Force Huey Helicopter was ferrying its occupants to the bandit-stricken north rift region on a working visit.

They were visiting troops deployed in the region under Operation Maliza Uhalifu, besides their inspection of the renovation works in a host of schools there.

Ogolla was laid to rest in an emotional ceremony conducted by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).

Ogolla is survived by a widow, two children, and a grandchild.

Cliphonce Omondi's wife mourns him

Akinyi shared a series of posts and photos of her husband mourning him.

She shared a screenshot of their last call, on Thursday, before he died in the crash. In the screenshot, Tabitha had saved the father of her children as Mi Amor (my love).

"Baba ulitosha. Thanks for the smiles, my Amor," she captioned one of the videos.

In another post, she wrote:

"My love is no more. Rest easy, my love. Forever in my heart, baba."

Netizens flooded her post with heartwarming messages encouraging her to stay strong:

"My love why?" she wrote in the video below with collaged photos of the soldier.

In another video, Akinyi lay on her bed with tears and a collaged video of her family wondering why it had to be her husband. The teary woman wrote:

"Father of my kids why my love?"

TikTok user Mosley, Omondi's neighbour, painfully disclosed he knew about his fellow neighbour's death.

However, he did not know how to break the shattering news to Omondi's wife when she asked him where her husband was.
