Mark Bitok, the deputy police commander in the Laare sub-county, confirmed the incident.
Bitok told TUKO.co.ke that the attacker, a man believed to be mentally unstable, attacked the victims at their workplaces before killing them.
“We received tragic and sorrowful news about the deaths of four people. We have confirmed that these individuals were brutally attacked by someone while they were at their workplace. The citizens managed to chase down the suspect and killed him,” the administrator confirmed.
He also urged the public not to take the law into their own hands and instead wait for an investigation to be conducted so that they can understand the motive behind the killings.
“We ask the public to refrain from taking matters into their own hands,” Bitok said.
The victims' bodies have been taken for preservation, pending a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death.
Previously, TUKO.co.ke reported that a youth hailing from Nyamira county, known as Wesley Ondieki, allegedly stabbed his mother to death.
Ondieki allegedly stabbed his mother when she declined to provide him with KSh 500 from the funds collected for his father's funeral expenses.
He also assaulted his sister, inflicting severe injuries upon her before running away from the scene.
The mother's body was transported to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary. Subsequent reports revealed that unidentified attackers killed Ondieki after fleeing from their residence.
