The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) has advertised several vacant positions, asking qualified Kenyans to apply.

KEMRI is a state corporation established in 1979 under the Science and Technology (Repealed) Act, Cap 250 of the Laws of Kenya. It operates under the Science Technology and Innovation Act.

The institution asked applicants to submit their applications by September 4, while other openings have a deadline of September 11.

Applications are submitted online through the KEMRI recruitment portal.

"All the applications to be done through KEMRI website www.kemri.go.ke/e- recruitment -E-Recruitment Portal," KEMRI stated.

Salary is negotiable within the KEMRI scheme of service depending on education, experience and demonstrated competency," it added.

1. Fieldworkers

Qualifications:

• Minimum of a diploma in any biomedical sciences.
• Good English and Swahili, both spoken and written.

2. Laboratory technologists

Qualifications:

• Minimum of a diploma in any biomedical sciences.
• Good English and Swahili, both spoken and written.
• Computer literate.

3. Senior research administrator

Qualifications:

• At least four years of relevant working experience; at least three years experience in field research with maternal and child health.
• Bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences, medical sciences or public health from a recognised institution.
• Master’s degree in medical sciences, epidemiology or public health nursing from a recognised institution.

4. Clinical research scientist

Qualifications:

• At least four years of relevant work experience, with at least three years of clinical trial research experience in field-based research in Kenya or sub-Saharan Africa.
• Bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery, dentistry or pharmacy.
• Master’s degree in biomedical sciences, public health, epidemiology or equivalent qualifications from a recognised institution.

5. Nurse

Qualifications:

• Diploma in nursing.
• At least three years of professional experience in epidemiological research relevant to the transmission and/or control of tropical infectious diseases.
