"He is currently at home for three weeks, both legs broke. He is a single parent caring for his two boys and one girl.
"Kindly, good people, let's support him even if it's just a little shopping so the children don't sleep hungry and the house shouldn't be closed since they already have a notice. Today I have visited him, and things are not okay," Derrick Mbugua, a human rights activist, pleaded with social media users.
Mbugua shared images of Macharia in crutches as he assisted the dad of three in walking outside his home.
He also shared a photo of Macharia and his son, who looked saddened by the father's physical state.
Social media users sympathised with Macharia's case, penned moving messages in the comment section, and sent financial contributions to his number.
