Following social media reports that Safaricom had reduced the prices of its internet packages, TUKO.co.ke sought clarification from the company.
Safaricom clarified that although it has not reduced the prices, the internet speeds associated with each package have been increased.
"We have not reduced prices, but the speeds have been increased", Safaricom responded to a query by TUKO.co.ke.

In an earlier article TUKO.co.ke compared the prices of and speeds of major internet providers in Kenya.
Notably, Safaricom's diamond package was limited to 100Mbps and Starlink's unlimited broadband internet plans reached speeds of up to 100 Mbps; however, the prices differed significantly.
Following Safaricom's recent speed increase, the Diamond Package now provides unlimited broadband internet speed of up to 500Mbps for KSh 12,499.
