Nairobi - The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Founders Association has rubbished a statement by ousted party secretary general Cleophas Malala.

In a statement on Thursday, August 15, Malala called for the resignation of Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah and Embu governor Cecily Mbarire.

Malala accused the pair of plotting his dramatic ouster and immediate replacement by former Mombasa senator Hassan Omar.

Why should UDA party punish Malala

In a hard-hitting statement, the association's chairperson, Joe Khalende, dismissed Malala's claims of still holding the secretary-general position, describing them as outrageous and preposterous.

"The UDA Founders Association reiterates its unwavering support for the changes made in the party with the appointment of Hassan Omar as interim General Secretary and advises Malala to stop the delusional mindset," Khalende said.

Khalende claimed Malala had been working with the UDA party's competitors to sow seeds of discord from within.

"We view Malala's statement with the contempt it merits. His remarks confirm our worst fears that he has been collaborating with our detractors to sabotage the party," he said.

The association promised to pursue remedial and consequential steps, including Malala's expulsion from the party through the party's internal dispute resolution committee.

What are UDA Founders' promise

They further claimed that they would be ready to fight for the party's stability, vowing to stand up against anyone.

"Malala has developed a repulsive habit of sowing seeds of hatred and cultivating division among party leaders for his own parochial interests. The party’s stability and progress are paramount, and we will not allow them to be jeopardized by self-serving individuals," the statement continued.

The founders also advised staff members to refrain from engaging with Malala, accusing him of misusing the party's stationery and logo to communicate with the media.

Who is planning Rigathi Gachagua's ouster?

The UDA Party has been involved in leadership wrangles causing division among President William Ruto and DP Rigathi Gachagua's allies.

Malala claimed that the Kikuyu MP and Embu governor are behind the impeachment push against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

According to him, the tuo are interested in taking over Gachagua's position in the Mt. Kenya region.
