The hate directed at a dreadlocked man attending Jesus Compassionate Ministry has irked the church's founder, Ben Kiengei.

What's Kiengei's view on dreadlocks?

Kiengei said the man was being unjustly judged for keeping his hair long.

According to the preacher, the man should not be admonished for the dreadlocks but be embraced with dignity.

He said the man was among the first members to join the church after he founded it in February after exiting the African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa, where he had served for at least two years.

Kiengei offered to fight for, protect, guide and love the man regardless of his hairstyle choice.

According to Kiengei, men look at outward appearances, but Jesus looks at the heart, as ascribed in 1 Samuel 16:7.

Kiengei noted that his church welcomes everyone.

"As a pastor, I will protect, guide, love, and appreciate him... He joined JCM church when we began... Why judge him? Why fight him due to his long hair? What about his heart? Jesus died for him, and that is enough... He joined kanisa la watu wote, injili bila hukumu," said Kiengei.

What did Pastor Ezekiel say about dreadlocks?

This is in sharp contrast to a stand taken by pastor Ezekiel Odero of Newlife Church, who in February warned women against having dreadlocks.

According to Odero, women who spot dreadlocks are single, divorced and can't get married.

He warned men that if their spouses start spotting dreadlocks, it is a red flag of their impending exit from the relationship.

"There is no dreadlocked woman with a husband," he said.

As for men, the controversial preacher said no one will hire a dreadlocked man as it depicts a 'rowdy character'.

"Who will put you in their office? Say you are employed as a teacher who will allow you to teach their children. My son, you have denied yourself an employment opportunity. I want to give you some money to go and shave," warned Odero.
