Three parliamentary officers have been suspended for revealing information regarding the condition of the Bunge Tower to the media.

According to a report by NTV Kenya, the officers asserted that the tower was of inferior quality and did not meet the standard of a KSh 9.6 billion building.

"The interdiction is pure malice, it's a witch hunt meant to silence the officers and any other voices that may try to speak about the ills that are going on in the hall of Bunge," a source told NTV Kenya.

A faction of parliamentarians has now joined the discourse and wants the leadership of parliament to provide answers to the questions raised by the whistleblowers.

Reports indicate that the tower, housing 331 members, purportedly lacks adequate physical and technical security measures.

"As of today, the 25th floor, which is supposed to be the command centre25, has not been fitted with the requisite technical security measures," the source stated.

President William Ruto formally inaugurated the Bunge Tower on Thursday, April 25.

President William Ruto expressed enthusiasm on Thursday, April 25, upon discovering that the furniture in the new Bunge Tower was sourced from local manufacturers.

Ruto praised parliament for setting an example by promoting local manufacturers within the country.

He has spearheaded efforts to promote the utilisation of locally manufactured products, aiming to bolster the local market for Kenyan-made goods.

Ruto made remarks during the formal unveiling of the new 28-story parliament building.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula declared on Thursday, April 11, that the tower was ready to accommodate MPs.

The new facility aims to address the issue of insufficient official housing for lawmakers. Moreover, the KSh 9.6 billion tower offers a range of upscale amenities, such as a gym and a beauty salon.

Additionally, it is connected to the Parliament Buildings via an underground tunnel to ensure security and privacy.
