Residents of Ihithe Village, Tetu, in Nyeri County, came together in grief as they laid to rest "Shiro Ka Ribui," known affectionately as "Mama Bella".

The dedicated medic tragically lost her life along with her daughter after sharing disturbing posts on social media.

Shiro eulogised as compassionate and kind

Kenya Semwa News TV shared emotional photos from the burial on Facebook, capturing the solemn mood at the event.

Friends and colleagues shared memories of Shiro's compassion, unwavering kindness, and impact on everyone she met.

Many also waxed lyrical about the joyous spirit of her daughter Bella, whose life was nipped in the bud.

"Mama Bella was remembered as a bright young soul, full of laughter and promise, now gone too soon," read part of the caption.

Shiro, a clinical officer for six years, had been an active presence on social media, providing a haunting glimpse into her state of mind.

Shiro's struggle with mental health

The mother of one struggled with unemployment and even tried her hands on different skills, including doing make-up.

Her online activity took a dark turn, with increasingly distressing messages hinting at inner turmoil and desperation for help.

Friends noted a shift in her demeanour as she finally came clean and publicly shared her struggles with mental health.

Before that, she shared photos of herself, indicating she was determined to make things work for her and requested help from the public.

Lessons from Shiro's death

Despite her repeated pleas, most of her followers did little to save her until her demise.

Kenyans have questioned how most of her close and social media friends failed to figure out she was distressed.

Her death now serves as a stark reminder of the importance of mental health awareness and support.
